Download my short bio in english and greek.
I am a visual artist, cultural anthropologist and educator working across media, most of the times I combine my artistic practise with research. During the last years I work on surveillance, oblivion and memory, citizenship and personal data within digital realms, attempting at the same time to find the relations to physical world.
Part of my artistic and research practise often takes the form of texts and publications, such as the Deletion Process_Only you can see my history which was presented at SIGGRAPH, the 43rd international conference and exhibition on Computer Graphics & Interactive Techniques, in July 2016, in Anaheim, California. The paper was published on Leonardo 49:4, The Journal of the International Society of the Arts, Sciences and Technology.
I also design and conduct workshops based on my current practise seeking to communicate and to collaborate with various audiences of all ages and backgrounds. The most recent one was commissioned by Onassis Cultural Centre in the context of the exhibition Tomorrows. In this exhibition I also presented my recent work The Aegean Datahaven.
I am a co-founding member of visual cortex, a production and research studio focusing on the performing and digital arts. I designed and implement concepts in collaboration with a close-knit team of computer scientists, creative technologists and visual artists as well as a wide network of performers, musicians and directors.
I hold a BA Hons. in Visual Arts and an MA in Digital Arts from the Athens School of Fine Arts. I have also completed prior graduate studies on Social Anthropology at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, Greece and postgraduate studies on Visual Anthropology at Leiden University in Leiden, Netherlands.
